Brandenburg Telephone Company - Ad
This was an interesting half page ad from The Meade County History Magazine. The theme of the magazine was history and showing the connection from the past to the present and future. Brandenburg Telephone Company was a huge part of the local community since the 1950's and in fact, my own father worked there since around 1980 until his retirement in 2022. I have a lot of history with this company!
They gave us free reign on this ad, only with the requirements that we use a tagline of "Your local connection to the world!" and icons representing the 4 main areas of their current business (Phone, Internet, Television, and Security). They have a range of blues used on their ad work and logos and recently went with this brighter hue over some of their recent ads.
I decided to create an ad that showed an old rotary phone on one side indicating the past and a modern laptop on the other indicating the present and future. The only problem was the desk was not large enough to span the entire ad. I had to digitally rebuild the desk on the left side of the ad and I repositioned the pen and pencil holders on the left side of the image (behind the rotary phone).
I wanted the rotary phone to stick out a bit more since it was a drab, black color. Our phones back in the 80's seemed like they were that gross beige color or a black one like the example. I made the handset overlap a part of the blue border just to make it a little more prominent. Maybe I should have pushed it a bit more, but I went with it.
I wished that my portfolio image was a higher quality. This example seems a little compressed compared to the original.
